2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you provide directly

• Account details: name, email address, phone number
• Profile information you enter (name, address, contact details)
• Images you upload (furniture photos, fabric swatches)
• Content you create (previews, design notes, fabric library)
• Messages sent via the in-app contact and feedback form
• Payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store card details)

Information collected automatically

• Account activity and usage patterns within the app
• Device type, browser type, and operating system
• IP address and general location
• Session data and feature usage statistics

Information from third parties

• Authentication information if you sign in via a third-party provider (e.g. Google)
• Payment status information from Stripe

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the COVERvision service
• Process AI-generated previews using your uploaded images
• Manage your account, subscription, and billing
• Auto-fill contact forms within the app
• Respond to support requests and feedback
• Send transactional emails (account, billing, support)
• Improve the app's performance, accuracy, and features
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

4. AI processing and your images

COVERvision uses artificial intelligence to generate furniture previews from your uploaded photos and fabric images. Please be aware:

• Images you upload are processed by our AI infrastructure (Anthropic Claude API) to generate previews
• Uploaded images and generated results are stored securely on our platform (Base44) associated with your account
• We do not use your images to train AI models without your explicit consent
• Generated previews are AI-generated and may not exactly represent the final physical result
• You retain ownership of your original uploaded images

5. Sharing your information

We share your information only with the following third parties, and only to the extent necessary to operate the service:

• Base44 — our application infrastructure and data storage provider
• Anthropic — AI processing for preview generation (Claude API)
• Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions
• Email service providers — for transactional emails and contact form delivery

All third-party providers are required to handle your data securely and in accordance with applicable privacy laws. We do not share your data with any other parties without your consent, except where required by law.

6. Data retention

• Your account data and content are retained for as long as your account is active
• If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. billing records)
• Billing records are retained for 7 years as required by NZ tax law
• Support and feedback messages are retained for up to 2 years

7. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction — request that we correct inaccurate personal information
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format where technically feasible
• Complaint — lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz) if you believe we have breached your privacy

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. This includes secure data storage, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls. However, no internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a privacy breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

9. Cookies

COVERvision uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication and to maintain your session. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes. By using the app you consent to the use of cookies necessary for its operation.

10. Children's privacy

COVERvision is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Users must be 18 or older to create an account. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. International users

COVERvision is operated from New Zealand. If you access the service from outside New Zealand, your information may be transferred to and processed in New Zealand and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the service you consent to this transfer. Where data is transferred to countries that may not have equivalent privacy protections, we take steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with this policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of COVERvision after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
